Bowlie 2 - yet more stuff happening!

We are still working away on the finishing touches to Bowlie 2 - but in addition to all the bands already announced, our own Stevie Jackson will be playing a short solo set and Daniel Kitson and Gavin Osborn (who are joining us on all the other English dates) will also be there. We also have some secret guests who will be playing a late night set on the Centre Stage. There will be plenty of other things to do if you are seeking entertainment beyond the bands: in the cinema, Barry Mendel will be introducing and discussing three Wes Anderson films Rushmore, Bottle Rocket and The Royal Tenenbaums, which he produced. Other films we have procured for your viewing pleasure include Almost Famous, American Graffiti, Anvil, Doctor Strangelove, Inglorious Basterds, Kick Ass, The Kids are Alright, The Passenger, Persepolis, The Runaways, The Social Network and Superbad.Among the many other attractions for those attending (or who are still thinking about it!) are a book club discussion of Bill Drummond's classic, 45; a talk, reading and short film presented by Dundonian author Neil Forsyth (aka Bob Servant) on Saturday, some random interviews by John Robb and a reading/ q&a by Stuart Murdoch on Sunday. There is also a Scrabble Challenge with Ken Chu (sign up by e-mailing here) and a 5-a-side football competition (submit either a team entry or let us know if you don't have a team but are looking for a game here). Another of our Glasgow friends, Frances McKee from the Vaselines will be running an Iyengar yoga session on Sunday morning. Participants are encouraged to bring their own mats or towels. To sign up, mail here. And last, but hardly least, the legendary Cynthia Plastercaster is coming over from the States to talk about her extraordinary career making plaster casts of rock stars' penises, so you cannot say there isn't plenty to fill the weekend! And. . we still have to announce the remaining DJs for late night slots and tv shows for in-chalet entertainment, while all the usual ATP favourites, including Lord Sinclair's bingo and pop quiz will also be in place. We'll have the full running order on here in due course.Hopefully see you there!
